Explore Lake Como

Suggested Activities

We hope that you will be able to attend both our welcome event on the 20th and wedding day festivities on the 22nd. We suggest that you take the 21st to unwind and explore all that Lake Como has to offer, and wanted to provide a few ideas of what a day in Como could look like, as well as some dining recommendations.

Bellagio

Some call it the "pearl of Lake Como" - our home base when we visited Como for the first time in 2022. We recommend taking a ferry across the lake and spending a few hours exploring. Have an aperitif by the lake, or pick up a souvenir at one of the glass-blown figurine shops.

Orrido de Nesso

Look, I don't usually endorse jumping off bridges, but even our friend's mom did it, and she loved it. Whether that's your cup of tea or not, there's a waterfall behind the bridge, making for a very picturesque corner for the lake.

Head Out On the Water

Take in the sights and all the different towns around the lake on a classic Riva boat, traditional Venetian taxi boat, or anything that floats, really. There are many options available for rent, but be sure to book in advance as they can be booked out day of.

Concorso D'Eleganza

This one's for the car enthusiasts. Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este is an event for classic and vintage cars. It takes place annually near the Villa d'Este hotel in Cernobbio, on the western shore of Lake Como in northern Italy. This will take place from the 23rd-25th of May, right after the wedding, if anybody would like to get some automobile action into their trip!

Villa Balbianello

Visit the famous Star Wars Villa! Please note, it is closed to the public on Monday and Wednesdays - that is usually when they have weddings and other private events.

01.

Mistral

One of our favorite date nights to date was at Mistral at the Grand Hotel Villa Sorbelloni, if you are looking for something special. There was a live pianist, and it was raining ever so slightly - the sunset over the mountains was nothing short of spectacular.

02

Grand Hotel Tremezzo (5 Restaurants)

We tried out every single restaurant at the GHT while we were visiting, and all very solid. A favorite is L'escale Trattoria and Wine Bar, located in a converted wine cellar - they offer wine tastings in the evenings and make quite a few dishes table side, for the visual diner. Di Giacomo Al Lago is lakeside, and the view and vibes cannot be beat. T Pizza is cozy and poolside, serving up your favorite Italian meal. T Bar has really great bar food (bar food here apparently means a full menu) and live music. La Terrazzo is the fine dining option here - the gold leaf adorned saffron risotto literally comes with a certificate.

03

Locanda La Tirlindana

Husband and wife team run the restaurant and grow their own vegetables in their garden. They are known for their lemon ravioli, and you get a great views of the small harbor of Sala Comacina.
